In this planet, we can't live without love. It is perhaps one of the most strongest and vigorous word to manipulate ones emotion, unless you have lost all your sensation, otherwise no one can escape from this such a sentiment and meaningful word.

However, they are also people describe love is just an illusion which it is not real and not exist. Suppose, it should be something very blissful and harmonious when everyone is in love and love each other. Love can be conflicting sometimes; I think I should replace "sometimes" to "always"; as nowadays there are so many creature in this world are acting in such an inhumane way. They are cruel and heartless.

Besides, a break up love couple turns love to become a nightmare and sometimes it leads someone to go for suit side. It turns the situation gorgeous to something that is deplorable. Sounds terrible? That is when people overindulge in loving someone which they believe it is forever. Unfortunately, it does not happen if you are not good in luck sometimes.

Remember our first love since we born in this wonderful earth. We can't even pronouns it, "Mama" or "Papa" if he is beside. But that is real love, it will never changed from that day. Unless you are the unlucky one that stay in the orphanage home. That relationship is so synchronize created by god that we love each other forever. There are couples divorce, but not you and your parents.

I remember a story that I heard from a radio station. If you own 5 apples and finish it, you only tasted 1 taste, that is apple. What if you take one and share the rest of four with your 4 buddies, and all you get is 1 apple and 4 loves. Perhaps, some other times they will willing to share with you whenever they have fruits. Thus, you get other fruits taste in the long run. Sharing and loving is so wonderful and amazing.

Love something real, worth and you believe. Yes, I agreed love is always an illusion if you do not have the capability to differentiate the real one and the fake one.

Another word of passion is obsession. Do not lose your passion unless you allow it. There was an old man always tell me "young man, you are young and enthusiastic this is your world, not mine". This good friend of mine likes to acquaint me that way each time and whenever he met me.

One day, I told him if you had a dream, you should go on with it, never give up. Age is not a matter to determine your future achievement or accomplishment. Colonel Sanders, he started Kentucky at the age of 66. My word made him so impress and immediately enlightened him, thus stop him from saying what he has been practicing all this while.

If you really indulge in what you have been doing with a clear objective and endeavor it with passion, with every effort you put in, you are definitely very close to your dream path. Many people in this world are very vulnerable, in vain and live in fear. They are struggling each day; they do not know what they want, what they do. Because they already use to it and no one among their friends come and enlighten them. It is very normal as their friends also facing the same problems like them.

If you want to success, mix around with successful people, if you want to score A in your examination, then mix with top students, if you want to do business, mix with successful businessman. Is this a hypothesis or a proven fact? Justify and try it yourself.

Morning Has Broken

Traffic was clear yesterday, when I drove back home. It's weird, because Friday usually will be the most traffic congested day among others. I was listening to the radio station that I normally listen to. I got a song that it has been long time that I never heard of. I listened this song since I was in secondary school time. It's a meaningful and very motivation song.

Do not simply give up, if you have a dream, think big and long term. There is no full stop in our heart. That was part of the lyrics from the song. Go on and carry on our dream if you really want to achieve it. That is what I always remind myself, especially when I encounter obstacle.

I remember a script and a song which is atmost helpful when I attended a Career Seminar few years ago.

Plan for the day will start from morning. Morning is granted by our god with fresh air and bright sunshine which just like paradise. Simultaneously, morning is a starting point for us after a next. Hence, we must strive for something that could enhance our future. And below is the song that I mentioned.

New Year, New topic. I am not able to continue Romance of Three Kingdoms at the moment due to the time constraint and heavy work. However, I had finished watching the whole movie's episode. In fact, this movie contents the Arts of War "Sun Szu War Menu" which many people use it as strategies in their business in order to compete with their competitors. It is not only use in business, but many other things in our lives. For instants, social, economy, personality and etc. Perhaps, I will share with all of you some other times.

I use to work very hard as a freelancer. This is because I need to cover my huge expenses and to enjoy a better life style. I always think to earn more so that I will be able to spend more. However, my mum says, do not spend too much unnecessary, save more money for future. As for conclusion, you must spend money wisely, not too materialistic, at the same time, earn more money, so yu can save more money for future.

I am always thinking to have my own business. Year after year, I am still yet to find a good business that I can really enter and work into it. Perhaps, I am the kind of person that only focuses on big business opportunity. That is why, most of the businesses I focused were too much capital involved. Finally, I have no choice but have to stay back and work as a freelancer that I use to be.

For those who have read the book "The Secret", you should understand the power of our mind (our brain). Do not underestimate it. Our brain can do far beyond what we expected. We can control everything we want if only we really want it. Not only want it but hunger for it. I always create myself an illusion that opportunity is always around me and very nearby. Until last two weeks, I saw a book "Money Secrets". I think, this book really helps me and enlightens me. I am still reading it and haven't finished it yet. I will share with you what I have learnt and applied in this book.

While reading this book, another good opportunity came in. A friend of mine introduces me his new project, that he has just successfully got it from a Hong Kong based Company, which he had already followed up for almost two years. My New House

It has been quite sometimes that I stopped blogging for almost a month. I was shipping to my new house in Subang Jaya. Need to do a lot of renovation, paint works and putting in new furniture. Further more, no internet access in my new house.

I just signed up a new internet service provider with Wi Max which need to pay only RM69 per month for 888kbs connection speed. I think its quite sufficient for me to use. Here are some photos of my new house. Take a look. Besides, I'm adopting a new dog name Shandy. This name is given by the previous owner although it's a "he". This dog is in the clinic for so many reasons, that was sent in by the previous owner. And he only discharge on 18th of sept. I'll upload his photo after he discharge.

Cao Cao's Wrathful Counterattack

Cao Cao's troops marched from Wan Castle to Xin Ye city. After being aware that Kong Ming trapped Cao Ren's troops, Cao Cao's hatred towards Kong Ming deepens. Now Cao Cao plan to stop up the river Bai and at the same time level the Fan Castle to the ground. However, since Liu Bei has gathered peasants from Xin Ye into the Fan Castle, if Cao Cao fight the peasants, he afraid that he will be unpopular among the people of Jing Zhou. Therefore, Cao Cao change his mind, whereby he will demand Liu Bei to surrender. If Liu Bei surrendered, he will avert the battle and thus saving the people. Thus, Cao Cao chose Xu Shu to be the messenger. Although Xu Shu was Kong Ming's classmate, he might return back to Kong Ming and Liu Bei's site. However, if he returned, he will be a laughing stock as he always hold his principle strongly. Therefore, he would never returned to Liu Bei.

The next day, Xu Shu went to Fan Castle and discussed with Liu Bei that Cao Cao is about to stop up river Bai and sending his army to block every exit in preparation to attack Fan Castle. And it is a shame to ask him to become messenger and demand Liu Bei's surrender. He continued saying that Cao Cao is pretending to care about the people, but all he wanted was to win their sympathy. Liu Bei won't be able to defend this Castle anymore if he did not surrender.
Right now, this castle is not defendable, Liu Bei decided to migrate the people to Xiang Yang City. However, Cai Mao had surrendered Xiang Yang to Cao Cao, they will definately won't accept them. The people in Fan Castle are willing to follow Liu Bei although it will not be easy to flee if too many people are following.

After knowing Liu Bei is evacuating the people from Fan Castle, Cao Cao took this opportunity to beat Liu Bei and ordered the troops to attack them. Since Liu Bei is now carrying the burden of migrating the people, thus, there is nothing for Cao Cao to fear about Kong Ming. Liu Bei and his men continued their journey toward Xiang Yang. But the people with him makes the journey very slow. Though Kong Ming may be the world's best strategist, the people remains vulnerable to the attack.

When Liu Bei reached Xiang Yang, Cai Mao refused to open the gate and attack the peasants.
At that time, Wen Yan, one of the Liu Biao's previous General, came out to help Liu Bei and open the gate for Liu Bei. Though Wei Yan managed to open the gate, if Liu Bei join the fight, they will jeopardize the people.
Liu Bei decided not enter this city. He then decided to move to Jiang Ling (one of Jing Zhou's city, which also has ample supply.
After Liu Bei left Xiang Yang a while, a spies from Liu Bei came back and said Cao Cao has entered Xiang Yang. Which means, the enemy's vanguard is quickly approaching them behind.

Cao Cao's position is getting far more formidable when he has taken Xiang Yang over. According to Cai Mao, Jing Zhou has Cavalry: 50,000, Infantry: 150,000, Navy: 80,000. Most of their supplies was in Jiang Ling. The rest were stored in granaries. They have about 7,000 war ships, and all managed by Cai Mao.
Therefore, Cao Cao appointed Cai Mao as his navy admiral. Cao Cao's army was not used to naval battles. Thus, although Cao Cao knew Cai Mao was not a trustworthy man, he still need Cai Mao's leadership to train their army against Wu. Meanwhile, due to the majority of the supplies was in Jiang Ling, he worried that Liu Bei would get there before them. Therefore, he ordered his cavalrymen to chase them.

No matter how amazing Kong Ming was, with these people, his strategy will be useless. There was only one way for him to chose, that was request reinforcement from Liu Qi in Jiang Xia. Therefore, he quickly sent Guan Yu as messenger to request on behalf. If Guan Yu late, Liu Bei troops would be exterminated. Because of worrying that Guan Yu may not be able to get the reinforcement, Kong Ming soon decided to to Jiang Xia as well to catch up with Guan Yu. Now the team only left Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei and Guan Ping.

Liu Bei went to Mt. Jing to rest for the night, followed by his people and 2,000 men. Meanwhile, Cao cao pursuing army was drawing near to Mt. Jing.
Can they beat Cao Cao's army while Kong Ming's brilliant strategy was unavailable? And the gallant warrior, Guan Yu, was not there either?

Zhuge Liang's Grand Scheme

Thanks to Kong Ming's strategy. Liu Bei was victorious during the fight with Cao Cao's troop. The amazed Guan Yu and Zhang Fei finally bowed down in respect. Xiahou Dun, who led 100,000 men against Liu Bei in Xin Ye, fell into trap. He himself barely escaped with his life. The embarrassed and defeated general is now in Ye City to await for Cao Cao's punishment.

Xiahou Dun explained to Cao Cao that Kong Ming's trick was indeed amazing. Kong Ming induced him to the fire trick which he has never seen such a trick before. Cao Cao understood that victories and defeats are normal in battles. He then forgive Xiahou Dun and hope he will win in the next battle. By knowing Kong Ming's strength, and they were not able to defeat Liu Bei, Cao Cao will lead the army personally this time. They will have five battalions this time. Each with 100,000 men. Now, Kong Ming have to deal with 500,000 men.

Mean while, Liu Biao was sick and going to die. He wished that Liu Bei is willing to take care of Jing Zhou. Then he could leave with peace. After knowing Cao Cao and his 500,000 men are marching to his place, Liu Biao immediately asked Liu Bei to call Liu Qi to Jing Zhou and appoint him as a new governor, since Liu Bei still refused to accept Liu Biao's offer become Jing Zhou's governor. Cai Mao (Brother in-law of Liu Biao) heard that Liu Qi would become the next governor, was not agreed. He started planing a trick with his sister (Liu Biao's wife) to change the will.

At this point of time, Cao Cao has arrived at the border and entered the Wan Castle. If he wanted to attack Liu Bei in Xin Ye, he must go through Bowang slope. Right now, Song Zhong, on the order of Cai Mao, went from Jing Zhou to see Cao Cao. Another word, Song Zhong and Cai Mao were indeed planning to surrender. Cao Cao then obtain Jing Zhou without wasting any troops. Meanwhile, he appoint Cao Ren, Xu Zhu to lead the vanguard to attack Liu Bei.

Cai Mao falsified his will and installed Liu Zong as his successor was aware by Guan Yu. Because Guan Yu captured Song Zhong when he came back from Cao Cao's camp.
Kong Ming then decided to attack Jing Zhou and capture Cai Mao. However, Liu Bei refused to do that, because Liu Biao put his two sons under his care. if he attacked his sons, that would constitute a breach of trust.

Cao Cao's vanguard of 100,000 men was led by Cao Ren has arrived at Bowang Slope. Kong Ming advised that it was not a good idea to attack such a large army head on right of Bowang Slope. He would rather move the people out to the Fan Castle instead. They will have to move the people with the boats to the Fan Castle through Bai river from some where. General Guan Yu was to be stationed at the upstream of Bai river. General Zhang Fei was to be stationed at the downstream of river Bai, near Bowang Slope. General Zhao Yun and Guan Ping shall remain in Xin Ye. Guarding Xin Ye city is the most important part of the battle according to Kong Ming. Before ending everthing, Kong Ming asked to captain to hold different color's flag blue and red. This tactic is to confuse Cao Cao's troop. Because fire defeats water and water defeats fire. They shall use both in this battle.

Guan Yu at upstream was asked to build a dam to block the water from flowing. Whereas, Zhang Fei at downstream was asked to wait at the river Bai until the defeated army comes to cross the river. General Zhao Yun at Xin Ye city was asked to hide some oil in each house after all people moved out. Beside, put lots of combustibles at all gates. Then purposely leave the east gate open fully.

Now, Cao Ren led his vanguard troop from Bowang Slope to near Xin Ye. Since Xiahou Dun was defeated at the same place before, they were extra careful this time. Suddenly, they saw two ambush were using red and blue flags to signal each other. This was Kong Ming's trick. Keep waving flags to make the enemy think they were passing some signals. Cao Ren was a very careful person. Upon seeing this flag, he would think that some ambush lays ahead from Xin Ye City. Therefore, Cao Ren ordered to kill them because he suspect that to person were the ambush.

After enter to the area, Cao Ren saw Liu Bei and Kong Ming were having a drink at uphill, he immediately asked his men to go uphill and kill them.
Without knowing that the ambush were actually hiding somewhere to throw the stones from uphill, Cao Ren's men were died and defeated. Cao Ren was very angry and move his troops to Xin Ye city to attack. When he reach there, the city was empty. He thought that Liu Bei's people already fled. Thus, he ordered the soldiers rest for that night and pursuit them the next day morning.

As what Kong Ming told Guan Ping, Cao Ren's soldiers will use the people's houses to rest for the night. Before dawn, a strong wind will blow. He only execute the task when the wind blow. That night the wind really blew. Guan Ping immediately asked his men put up the fire to burn the city.
Once the ememy fell into the fire trick, they'll flee toward the east gate. Zhao Yun will for them there. Then drive them toward river Bai.

By the daybreak, Guan Yu shall hear the noise of horses and the troops. At that moment, he is suppose to break the dam. The fast moving river water almost killed all Cao Ren's men when they cross by the river.
After the water attack, the remaining enemy will cross Zhang Fei's area to flee. Cao Ren and Xu Zhu managed to flee after putting up a fight with Zhang Fei.

Kong Ming tactics drowned most of Cao Ren's 100,000 men. Liu Bei didn't lose a single man. Then, they depart for the Fan Castle. Kong Ming once again scored a great victory. Due to falling into Kong Ming's trap, Cao Cao's army were defeated and forced to retreat. However, Liu Bei with the displaced people who keep following him became an easy target for the wrathful Cao Cao who's getting closer and closer.

This LCD Screen TV was actually bought for a "Mystery Shop" purpose at Courts Mammoth. I was asked to pretend like a normal shopper to shop at Courts Mammoth. At the same time, observe and rate the sales person's service level. This is part of our survey objective to improve our client employees service standard.

I am enjoying watching Romance Of The Three Kingdoms by using this TV. However, I have to return it to Courts Mammoth after 2 weeks. Meanwhile, try to watch as much as possible.

Kong Ming First Battle

Finally, Zhuge Liang enters Liu Bei’s service as his new military advisor. After finding him a place to stay, Kong Ming begins his duty as an advisor.

Liu Bei admires Kong Ming and treats him very generously. Because of the close relationship between Zhuge Liang and Liu Bei, Liu Bei’s brothers started envy about this new advisor.

One day, a messenger dispatched from Jing Zhou saying that Liu Biao asked Liu Bei to come. From the messenger, Liu Bei suspected that was because Liu Biao was sick. What Liu Bei suspected was correct. Liu Biao was getting sicker and sicker.

In fact, the purpose of asking Liu Bei to come was because Liu Biao hoped that Liu Bei could become Jing Zhou’s governor after he die. However, Liu Bei refused to undertake such a responsibility.

Zhuge Liang was shocked when he knew that Liu Bei declined the offered. Because that would be a big progress in seizing Jing Zhou. However, Liu Bei cannot forget the kindness of Liu Biao and he did not want to take any advantage over it. His virtue will cause him man hardships later.

Meanwhile Xiahou Dun with his 100,000 men has arrived at Jing Zhou’s border. At this moment, Kong Ming already had a plan with him. However, his only worried that Guan Yu and Zhang Fei may not obey his instruction. Therefore, in order to carry out the strategy smoothly, Liu Bei past his sword to Zhuge Liang and became the main commander of troops.

Kong Ming Shall use the terrain advantage against the enemy. The enemies must be camping around Bowang Slope. After the vanguard, the main army should come along with the supply troops. General Guan Yu shall lead a cavalry and lay an ambush in Yu hill. This will quietly let Xiahou Dun’s vanguard to pass. Guan Yu must wait until the main army come before he could attack.

Then, General Zhao Yun and Liu Bei can attack Xiahou Dun army from the front of Yu hills.

But don’t fight to win, must feign defeat and flee.

This way, they can set up a trap for the enemy. Guan Ping shall lead his armies at two spots and burn the enemies once they fall into their trap. General Zhang Fei shall hide his troop in the forest An Lin and pursue the fleeing troop.

For Kong Ming himself, he shall prepare the banquet to celebrate their victory.

Just as Kong Ming foretold the enemy currently at the Bowang slope and waiting for the night to attack Xin Ye. The one who lead the vanguard is General Xiahou Dun himself. The main army was following him and was led by General Yu Jin and General Li Dian. Guan Yu at his point, let the vanguard go and wait for the main army. After Xiahou Dun pass by Guan Yu’s point, General Zhao Yun attacked Xiahou Dun, feigned defeat and followed by Liu Bei, attacked and fled.

This has led Xiahou Dun trap in the narrow canyon where Guan Ping located.

Immediately, Guan Ping set up a fire attacked and burn the enemy.

Meanwhile, Guan Yu is attacking the main army of Xiahou Dun in Yu Hills. As what Zhuge Kong Ming said, Xiahou Dun shall flee to the forest An Lin.
Therefore, Zhang Fei who was hiding in the forest immediately attacked Xiahou Dun when he pass by the forest.

The battle was finished in just one night. Most Cao Cao’s troops were dead. Their casualties were in tens of thousands. Xiahou Dun was utterly defeated by Kong Ming’s strategy and he himself made a tremendous effort to escape. This was Kong Ming’s first victory. The amazed Guan Yu and Zhang Fei finally bowed down in respect to Zhuge Liang.

However, Kong Ming has yet to fight Cao Cao’s veteran advisors: Cheng Yu and Xun Yu. Can Kong Ming make a plan against Cao Cao’s troop of 500,000 elites using just 5,000 men? A new era has begun as the battle for supremacy in China was transformed into the battle of geniuses.

New Nissan Sentra

This month is a very busy month, too many focus group to handle. Hardly to find time to write Romance of the three kingdoms. It will be continued once I free.

Meanwhile, I'm trading-in my previous Kia Spectra to Nissan. They were willing to purchase my car at RM25,000. That was an unexpected amount as other motor-car dealer can only quoted me RM18,000 for their maximum price.

Therefore, I have to say good bye to my Kia Spectra. And thanks to this car for accompanying me in the past 6 years. But I have no choice because the maintenance is too expensive.

Look, this is my New Nissan Sentra 1.6 sport. Just got it last week.

The Three Visits

There were few Master Shui Jing blighters’ students, Xu Shu, Cui Zhouping, Shi Guangyuan, Meng Gongwei and Zhuge Liang. Among them, Zhuge Liang was the brightest one. He can be compared to Jiang Ziya who helped found the 800-year Zhou dynasty, or with Zhang Liang, whose advice was responsible for Han dynasty’s 400 year glory. However, inviting Kong Ming (Zhuge Liang) wasn’t easy.

Without reluctance, Liu Bei immediately went to invite Zhuge Liang after Xu Shu’s left. Liu Bei and his brothers Guan Yu and Zhang Fei moved early in the morning with a hope to invite this talented man for their military advisor. Unfortunately, Zhuge Liang wasn’t at his home when Liu Bei reached there. The worse thing was his household member did not have any idea when he will return once he out of the mountain.Therefore, Liu Bei decided to go back home while waiting for Zhuge Liang to come back.

Meanwhile, Cao Cao diverted water from river Zhang to create an artificial lake called Lake Xuan Wu, where he drills his soldiers for naval battles. This was all done in preparation to attack south, especially Jing Zhou. Liu Bei in Jing Zhou will soon be engulfed in the tide of war. Unless, Zhuge will be successfully recruited as advisor by spring next year.

After few days back to home, Liu Bei wished to try his second visit to Kong Ming’s house. Liu Bei has no chance to meet Kong Ming again as he was out again before Liu Bei managed to reach his house. This time Liu Bei left a letter saying that, he will come back again to pay a visit and hope that he will manage to see him in the next visit.

It was spring that month, in order to show Liu Bei’s sincerity to invite Kong Ming, Liu Bei decided to go again personally to see Zhuge Liang. This time, Liu Bei was so lucky and delights that Zhuge Liang was at home. However, he was taking a nap that afternoon. Liu Bei just waited Zhuge Liang outside home because he won’t want to awake him.

After few hours waiting, Kong Ming finally woke up. After knowing Liu Bei is waiting outside for few hours, Kong Ming immediately invited Liu Bei come in to his house.

Liu Bei was very excited when he met Zhuge Liang. He told him that, at the time of Confucius, war ravaged the land, so, he traveled throughout Zhou Kingdom to spread his teaching and now, is the time of Chaos, Kong Ming should make use of his extraordinary talent. If he only rely on his own strength, it’s impossible to do it. This is why he asked loyal and benevolent souls to help him. So that, they will be able to defeat Cao Cao.

Zhuge Liang was great to hear what Liu Bei said earlier. Since he has visited him 3 times, he was willing to teach Liu Bei how to oppose Cao Cao. According to Zhuge Liang, it was not the time for the kingdom to reunite.

Because the powers under heaven were already divided into two, Cao Cao and Sun Quan. However, if Liu Bei managed to obtain Jing Zhou, Yi Zhou and the Shu region at the west, Liu Bei will have a chance to fight both Cao Cao and Sun Quan. That meant, the Kingdom will be divided into three.

Western Shu has 54 districts. Its land was very fertile. Transportation between north and south were clear. Therefore, obtaining it will help Liu Bei immensely. Liu Biao at Jing Zhou, his health was deteriorating and was about to die. Liu Bei was able to obtain Jing Zhou. He also advised Liu Bei to attack Yi Zhou and oust its ruler, Liu Zhang. By doing that, Liu Bei could help the people and restore the Han dynasty. If he has just a bit hesitation on little things, he would spoil the greater good.

After finishing his story, Liu Bei was really impressed Zhuge Liang and invited him to become his military advisor. However, his offer was refused by Zhuge Liang. Liu Bei was very said after the offer being refused by Zhuge Liang. Because, with his own ability, he knew he won’t achieve what Zhuge Liang advised him earlier on. Zhuge Liang was heart was touched by Liu Bei after seeing Liu Bei sad and cried. Finally, Zhuge Liang accepted Liu Bei’s offered to become his military advisor.

This news immediately reached Cao Cao. Now, Liu Bei has new military advisor and this advisor was much stronger than Xu Shu. After knowing who Kong Ming was, Cao Cao ordered Xiahou Dun with 100,000 men marched toward XinYe in Jing Zhou kill Liu Bei and Kong Ming.

Kong Ming plan to divide China into three kingdoms is now under trial.

Cao Cao and Xu Shu's Mother

In order to lure Xu Shu out from becoming Liu Bei’s military advisor, Cao Cao asked his men to invite Xu Shu’s mother to capital. And now, Xu Shu’s mother is in Cao Cao’s custody. Cao Cao tried to influence Xu Shu’s mother, so that she would persuade his son to work for him instead of Liu Bei.

However, Xu Shu’s mother knew Lord Liu Bei was a virtuous ruler who respect by the people and his was a real hero. Thus, she refused to write a letter to persuade Xu Shu. Cao Cao has no choice, and finally, he got an idea to mimic Xu Shu mother’s handwriting. Here’s the content:”Since the death of our younger brother, I’ve been living alone. Suddenly, Cao Cao’s men brought me to him and blame me for the things you did. Thanks to Cheng Yu, otherwise my life wouldn’t be spared. Here I’m in the Prime Minister’s custody. Please quickly come and see me. They said that they will put me to death if you don’t surrender. Therefore, I implore you to come here as soon as possible to free me from here.

After reading the letter, Xu Shu was very upset and depressed.

Therefore, he decided to tell the truth to Liu Bei, so that he could rush to his mother’s place. Liu Bei was very saddened after Xu Shu told him that he was forced to leave him. He knew that mother is someone’s closet relative; he has to let him go although he can’t watch a talented man like Xu Shu to leave. The next day, Liu Bei and his brothers farewell with Xu Shu and Xu Shu promised he won’t help Cao Cao at all. He would only depart to see his mother.

Before Xu Shu left, he told Liu Bei, 20 miles to the west of Xiang Yang, in the Long Zhong area, there lives a man of extraordinary talent. This information could be his farewell present for Liu Bei. This man’s talent if compare with Xu Shu, Xu Shu is like a firefly and his talented friend is like a moon. This man is not an easy man to recruit, he advised Liu Bei to invite him personally.

He was the number one genius on this earth and his name is Zhuge Liang or nick name called “Kong Ming”. People also called him the “Master of Sleeping Dragon”. The other master Liu Bei curious was “The Fledgling Phoenix”. Xu Shu replied this man “The Fledgng Phoenix” was Pang Tong, styled Shiyuan.

Without knowing that it was Cao Cao’s tactics, Xu Shu left Liu Bei and reached the Capital. Xu Shu’s mother was shocked when she saw her son there. After Xu Shu showed her mother the letter, they were enlightened that Xu Shu was tricked. His mother was very angry because Xu Shu was not alert that this was actually Cao Cao’s tactics and due to this scenario, she hung herself and end her life. Ironically, Xu Shu never would’ve thought things would turn into a tragedy.

Though Xu Shu is now at Cao Cao’s side, who was Liu Bei’s enemy, his loyalty does not change. He would keep his promised that he would never suggest any tactic to anyone.

The Scholar – Shan Fu

After Cao Cao finished subjugating the north, he returned and moved the capital from Xu Chang to Ye City.

Then he planned and ready for the next move to conquer the south. Liu Bei and Liu Biao in Jing Zou were at the top of his list. Cao Cao ordered Cao Ren be the captin and Li Dian be his assistant to attack Liu Bei from the Fan Castle.

When Liu Bei left Master Shui Jing’s resident area, on his way back to Xin Ye, he met a scholar called Shan Fu. From the communication between Shan Fu and Liu Bei, Liu Bei aware that Shan Fu has extraordinary military knowledge. Therefore, Liu Bei recruited him as his military advisor. Then, both of them back to Xin Ye quickly and started training their troops.

After patrolling the Xin Ye city, Cao Cao ordered Cao Ren and Li Dian with 25,000 men to Fan Castle to attack the city. The captain of Fan Castle, the Lu brothers, Lu Kuang and Lu Xiang, welcomed Cao Ren and Li Dian and reported the present situation. Since Lu Brothers joined Cao Cao from Yuan Shao, they haven’t got chance to serve Cao Cao. Thus, this time they voluntary went to the battle with their 5,000 men approached Xin Ye through the river Yu.

The news of their coming arrived to Liu Bei’s ears. Lu Kuang and Lu Xiang are veteran generals with 5,000 men and Liu Bei only has 2,000 men. They were all worried about this. “Number does not ensure victory in a war”, Shan Fu came out and told Liu Bei. He continued, “Isn’t this perfect to test out our recently trained troops”? However, everyone seems lacked of confident to Shan Fu. Because that was the first time Shan Fu commanding the troops. Liu Bei did not think so, he let Shan Fu led the troops and fully supported him.

Shan Fu’s strategy was successful that all of Cao Ren’s army was utterly destroyed. By luring the enemies to a trap and eliminated them one by one that Shan Fu’s strategy. Guan Yu attack from the left side at the front, Zhang Fei attack from the right side, at the rear, Zhao Yun and Liu Bei lead the main army to fight the vanguard. Lu brothers was killed in this battled.

Liu Bei wondered whether Shan Fu is the man called “The Sleeping Dragon”. However, Shan Fu explained that the man he mentioned was much greater than him. He can’t compare with The Sleeping Dragon. And he didn’t know where The Sleeping Dragon was, at that time. This man won’t let anyone knew his name. Though he may hide his name, he’s just waiting for the right moment to show up.

The Lu brothers were completely defeated, nearly half were captured. Cao Ren was very angry and preparing the second attacked to seek for revenge. However, Li Dian advised Cao Ren report it Cao Cao before he make any decision and don’t underestimate the enemy. Cao Ren then, insisted not to report to Cao Cao because it’s not possible that 25,000 men can not defeat 2,000 men power.

Thus, Cao Ren led 25,000 men arrived to a land near Xin Ye. Since they departed from Fan Castle, it must be vulnerable. So, Shan Fu asked Liu Bei to take it. Sun Tzu once said: Ordinary men conduct war only taken by surprise and then try to win it. That’s what Shan Fu said.

Li Dian was the vanguard in the battle field. However, he was defeated by Zhao Yun. When Li Dian back to the camp, Cao Ren was mad and almost beheads Li Dian. This time, Cao Ren personally led the troops to the war. This time, Cao Ren used an unusual formation called the “Eight Gates to Impregnable Position”. The eight gates are: Desist, Survive, Injure, Confound, Exhibit, Perish, Surprise and Liberate. If someone goes through the Confound or the Perish gate, he will surely doom.

This formation only has one weakness. That is, if they break through the Survive gate and move west to the Exhibit gate, the formation will be broken. Therefore, Shan Fu asked Zhao Yun started attacked from southeast and start moving toward the west and stick to the direction. When the enemy is crumbling, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei immediately attacked from the other side.

The tactic was a huge success. Cao Ren’s “Eight Gates to Impregnable Positions” were broken by Zhao Yun’s army. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei finished the rest of the army. However, Cao Ren never gave up. He insisted to plan for a night raid although Li Dian advised him that Fan Castle was in danger and Liu Bei might anticipate Cao Ren’s night raid.

That night, no body in Liu Bei’s camp. The camp was very quiet.

Cao Ren thought the enemies wasn’t realized the night raid. When Cao Ren’s troops reached the camp, Liu Bei’s troops suddenly attacked from the back.

This time Cao Ren defeated again by Liu Bei’s troops. Cao Ren finally no choice but forced to go back to Fan Castle. On their way back to castle, Cao Ren met Zhang Fei’s troops and Zhang Fei managed to kill half of Cao Ren’s men.

Cao Ren therefore forced to flee by crossing a river.

When Cao Ren back to Fan Castle, he realized that the Castle was already taken over by Guan Yu. They ended up fled to the capital. Cao Ren and Li Dian were thoroughly defeated. Thanks to the ingenious tactic of a divine advisor, Shan Fu. Moreover, Cao Cao’s outpost, the Fan Castle, fell into Liu Bei’s hands.

After Cao Ren and Li Dian back to the capital, Cao Cao did not punish them as victories and defeats are normal in battles. However, Cao Cao started to do investigation about this man called Shan Fu. Cao Cao found out Shan Fu was only a fake name. His real name was Xu Shu, styled Shiyuan. He was an expert swordsman. Once he killed a man to avenge his friend. Thus, he adopted Shan Fu as his fake name to avoid being arrested. Then he studied under Master Shui Jing and became a scholar. And now, he has accomplished master.

Di Lu Safe Liu Bei

Seven years after the battle of Guan Du, Liu Bei avoided war against Cao Cao by seeking refuge to Liu Biao in Jing Zhou.
In an attempt to repay Liu Biao’s kindness, Liu Bei agreed to suppress a rebellion in Jiang Xia on his behalf. Jing Zhou was a very prosperous place in South China. During the battle, Liu Bei successfully got a horse from one of the general killed by Zhao Yun.

This horse called “Di Lu” (Hex Mark). The horse feet were white and it has a white spot on his head, which was believed this horse will bring bad luck to its rider. However, Liu Bei did not believe it.

After Liu Bei helped Liu Biao in suppressing the Jiang Xia rebellion, Liu Biao puts even more trust to Liu Bei. However, Zhang Lu of Han Zhong and Sun Quan of Wu keep harassing Liu Biao. Therefore, Liu Bei voluntary offered to ask his general to guard the border for Liu Biao. When this news reached Cai Mao (Liu Biao’s brother in law), he felt his power was under pressure and unsecured. That night Cai Mao went to see his sister (Liu Biao’s wife) to discuss about this news.

After she got the news from Cai Mao, immediately she went to persuade Liu Biao not to give this authority to Liu Bei. However, Liu Biao insisted to do that. Liu Biao was afraid of the opposition of his clansmen. Thus, he bade Liu Bei to guard Xin Ye, a town near Jing Zhou, instead.

Not long after Liu Bei and company move to Xin Ye, Xiang Lan (Liu Bei’s wife) gave birth to a boy. Though Liu Bei now has no land of his own, his anguish was somewhat alleviated with the birth of the child. Xiang Lan dreamt about the Polaris (Dou Xing) during the labour, thus she named the boy Ah Dou.

Liu Biao had a son with his late wife, Liu Qi and another son with his current wife, Liu Zong. He was not sure which one he should appoint as his successor. Liu Qi was not very healthy at that time. However, Liu Bei suggested, if he forsake the eldest son, he forsake the age-old tradition. He afraid that would cause an uproar in his people.

When Liu Biao’s wife heard about this, she was very angry and she planned with Cai Mao to killed Liu Bei quietly. However, Liu Bei managed to run away with the help of Liu Biao’s honorary guest, Yi Ji.

When Cai Mao failed to kill Liu Bei, he came out with a trick by witting a false poem on behalf of Liu Bei, to show that Liu Bei has a rebellious intention.

At the same time tried to persuade Liu Biao send the troops to Xin Ye. However, Liu Biao knew that it was a trick attempted to sow enmity between he and Liu Bei. So he refused to send troops.

Liu Biao’s wife then came out another plan to lure Liu Bei out from Xin Ye. When the annual harvest celebration came, Liu Biao asked Cai Mao to invite all officers come. And at the same time, Cai Mao took this opportunity to suggest, invite Liu Bei to act as the host. Therefore, Liu Bei would have no excuse of not attending it. If Liu Bei refused to become a host, it would draw Liu Biao’s suspicion. Thus, Liu Bei asked Zhao Yun and 300 men to accompany Liu Bei attending this invitation.

Jing Zhou’s annual harvest celebration is celebrated by all people. That time, all officers in Jing Zhou, either civil or military, were there to celebrate it. Three gates of the city have been guarded real tight by Cao Mao’s men except the west gate.

Because it leads to Tan river. Therefore, they thought Liu Bei might not escape that way. In order to distract Zhao Yun’s attention to guard Liu Bei, Cai Mao asked his men to lure Zhao Yun out for a drink.

Again this time Cao Mao’s tactic was alerted by Yi Ji.

He asked Liu Bei to flee from the west gate. Liu Bei then immediately rode his Di Lu Horse and fled from the west gate. Liu Bei was unable to move when he reached Tan river when Cai Mao’s men chasing from behind.

Everyone was shocked when the Di Lu horse suddenly performed a leap to cross over the river. Liu Bei finally safe by his so called “unfortunate” Di Lu Horse.

Liu Bei felt very lonely now as he just escaped from an imminent danger. However, upon escaping the danger, he hesitate on where he should go to hide. At last, Liu Bei arrived to an unexpected place. He came into the dwelling of Master Shui Jing. Master Shui Jing let Liu Bei know about the presence of a military advisor, nick name “The Sleeping Dragon” and “The Fledgling Phoenix”. If he get one of them into his service, the whole world is within his grasp.

The Battle Of Guan Du

Wu’s ruler, Sun Ce, died young due to illness and was succeeded by his younger brother, Sun Quan. Sun Quan is a great ruler, loved by his officers and people.
His power is growing steadily. Yuan Shao, in his attempt to win Sun Quan’s favour against Cao Cao, tried to send a messenger in order to ally with Sun Quan.

Because of worrying that Cao Cao might invade Yuan Shao, Yuan Shao sent troops in the He Bei states: Ji Zhau, Qing Zhou, You Zhou and Bian Zhou, which total 700,000 men all march toward the capital, Xu Chang. Cao Cao quickly came out a strategy that less people less rations. Cao Cao thought that an elite can defeat 10 men. Thus, Cao Cao decided to sent only 70,000 men to the battle field. Cao Cao’s 70,000 and Yuan Shao’s 700,000 meet in a showdown south of Yellow River, at Guan Du peak. The decisive battle between major powers is about to begin.

According to Ju Shou, Yuan Shao’s assistant, Cao Cao’s supplies were not as much as them. Therefore, he suggested not to rush the battle, this is to deplete Cao Cao’s supply. They only need to defend their headquarter. Once Cao Cao ran out of food, they’ll be easily defeated. However, Yuan Shao did not listen to Ju Shou’s advised and put him to the jail.

Yuan Shao then ordered 700,000 men surrounds the capital in all directions. In the 90 miles perimeter, they were all tightly guarded with highly spirited troops. Because of Cao Cao afraid that they were running out of supplies, he ordered all his armies to attack Yuan Shao. However, Cao Cao was defeated by Yuan Shao and hiding in the city.

Yuan Shao then, came out with another idea called mole tactic. They would dig a tunnel through the enemy’s base. The next day, Cao Cao realized that the enemy was very quiet. Their spices then noticed that the enemies were digging tunnel into their base. Cao Cao quickly thought of an idea, to dig a deep trench around the city.

Yuan Shao’s strategy to drag out the war was to demoralize Cao Cao’s troops. And Cao Cao’s rations began to deplete. Cao Cao wrote a letter to Xu Chang to request for supplies. However, the messenger was captured by Xu You, Yuan Shao's adviser. Yuan Shao thought the letter was actually Cao Cao’s tricked. At the same time Shen Pei's, also Yuan Shao's adviser asked his spy to circulate a letter that Xu You was good friend with Cao Cao and he was seriously involved in the case of corruption. Thus, this letter has caused Yuan Shao did not trust Xu You anymore.

When Xu You told Yuan Shao a strategy against Cao Cao. Since Cao Cao’s supply was short, he told Yuan Shao to attack Xu Chang and the capital at the same time. But Yuan Shao suspicious him and charged him with corruption and embezzlement. Finally, Xu You left Yuan Shao and joined Cao Cao.

After Xu You joined Cao Cao, Cao Cao was shocked that if Yuan Shao follow advised from Xu You, his troops could have been defeated by Yuan Shao. Xu You then, advised Cao Cao to attack Wu Chao. Because Yuan Shao stored most of his supplies in a depot in Wu Chao. The man who guard the depot was a drunkard called Chunyu Qiong.

Chunyu Qiong must be unaware of a carefully staged raid.

Before Cao Cao’s raid, Ju Shou, Yuan Shao’s assistant, insisted to see Yuan Shao although he was in jail. He told Yuan Shao that there would be a night raid in Wu Chao. However, Yuan Shao did not believe him and put him back to the jail.

That night, Cao Cao sent 5,000 elites broke the first line of guard and proceeds to Wu Chao for the raid.

Meanwhile, when Yuan Shao heard Wu Chao was broke, he ask Zhang He and Gan Lan to attack Guan Du, because he thought that nobody was in Guan Du since Cao Cao personally led the troops to attack Wu Chao. However, Guan Du was actually defended by troops that already prearranged by Cao Cao. Zhang He and Gao Lan were unable to break in.

Shen Pei, Yuan Shao assistant, thus, took this opportunity and told Yuan Shao Zhang He and Gao Lan were not loyal to him, because they were unable to break Guan Du. Yuan Shao at that time was panic and ask his messenger to call Zhang He and Gan Lan back. Zhang He and Gao Lan learnt from the messenger that Yuan Shao was going to punish them if they went back to see him. Thus, this forced them decided to stop the battle and surrender to Cao Cao.

That was Spring 200 A.D. It was midnight of 5^t^h Jian An Year, 10^th month day 23. The raid was successful. Yuan Shao was an indecisive man and lacks wisdom. While Cao Cao has a great acumen in war and very decisive, even time of crisis.

After defeat of Wu Chao, Yuan Shao had series of defeats and lost almost all of his 700,000 men. Despite his best effort, at the end of the war, he only had about 800 men left. While Cao Cao, whose ambition was to encroach the entire kingdom. This battle was a big progress.

A Great Reunion of Liu Bei And His Brothers

Guan Yu’s company has met Sun Qian, one of Liu Bei’s men who managed to flee north from Xiao Pei. Guan Yu and Liu Bei’s wife then, rest in a farmer’s house discussion a strategy to save Liu Bei. Yuan Shao might kill Liu Bei if Guan Yu did not turn up.

The next day morning Guan Yu and Liu Bei’s wife continued their journey to He Bei. On their way passing by a street, they were blocked by a group of robbers. Fortunately, the leader of the robbers “Zhou Cang” managed to recognize Guan Yu’s character, a rider with a long beard. He quickly knee down and explained, he was once a Yellow Turban’s general. After the rebellion ended, he became a thief.

He heard that Guan Yu has crossed the river and arrived in this He Bei region. He was actually waiting Guan Yu past by this street. They are willing to serve Liu Bei and ask for Guan Yu’s permission to join them. After a discussion between Guan Yu and Liu Bei’s wife, Guan Yu finally agreed Zhou Cang to follow them, while the rest of the people wait there in the mean time.

After several days journey away from the capital, Guan Yu and company have marched about 1,000 miles to see Liu Bei. Now Ji Zhou is just in front of them. Once they went in to Ji Zhou, Guan Yu heard that there was a drunk warrior who passed by. He beat the bandit leader and occupied his base in Ji Zhou. And the bandits now become his men. Nobody dares to capture him, even the officers. Apparently, Guan Yu learnt from an old man that this drunk warrior was Zhang Fei.

Immediately, Guan Yu asked Sun Qian to go and meet Zhang Fei so that he can come and meet them. When Zhang Fei heard that Guan Yu was on his way to the city, Zhang Fei quickly rode his horse to meet Guan Yu. Guan Yu was very happy when he met Zhang Fei. However, Zhang Fei was very angry and put up a fight with Guan Yu because Zhang Fei thought that Guan Yu was Cao Cao’s minion.

No matter how Guan Yu explained to Zhang Fei, he just ignored it and continued fighting with Guan Yu. Meanwhile, Cao Cao troops (General Chai Yang) were coming towards Ji Zhou. In order to solve the misunderstanding between Zhang Fei and Guan Yu, Guan Yu immediately rode his horse and killed Chai Yang on the spot, in front of Zhang Fei.

This is to prove that Guan Yu is not at Cao Cao’s side. That was the first reunion between Guan Yu and Zhang Fei two brothers.

Everyone turns out to be still very loyal to Liu Bei. The next morning, Guan Yu and Sun Qian continued their journey to find Liu Bei in Ji Zhou. Zhou Cang returned to Mount Wo Niu to gather up his men as reinforcement. While Zhang Fei stay the city to protect Liu Bei’s wife. When they reached Yuan Shao’s resident place, where Liu Bei stay, there were a small kid suddenly turned up to and offered to help Guan Yu and Sun Qian to break into Yuan Shao’s residence door, so that Sun Qian managed to pass message to Liu Bei that Guan Yu is waiting him at the forest not far from here. After Sun Qian past the message to Liu Bei, he asked Chen Zhen (the one who delivered letter to Guan Yu) to guide Sun Qian escape from the back door.

The next day morning, Liu Bei went and met Yuan Shao. He told Yuan Shao that Cao Cao’s is recruiting a huge number of soldiers to invade He Bei. Thus, he suggested to ally with the governor of Jing Zhou, Liu Biao that will certainly gave him a competitive advantage. Liu Bei knew that Yuan Shao previously has sent his messenger once, but failed to convince Liu Biao. Now, he took this opportunity to offer Yuan Shao that he is willing to meet Liu Biao and convince him. Because, Liu Biao was one of his distant relatives. And Liu Bei is certainly able to persuade Liu Biao.

Without knowing that was actually Liu Bei’s tricked, Yuan Shao let Liu Bei left his resident area. And finally, Liu Bei out from cage again and he managed to meet Guan Yu. Both of them were so happy that they reunited again.

On their way back to reunite with Zhang Fei, they met Zhou Cang. Zhou Cang looks very tired and told Liu Bei that there was a young man riding a horse came and raided his headquarter in Mount Wo Niu. When they followed Zhou Cang to the Mountain, they realized that man Zhou Cang mentioned was actually Zhao Yun (Liu Bei’s good friend). Again, it was good news that Zhao Yun joined Liu Bei’s force. At the same time, in order to reward Guan Ping for his service and bravery against the enemies, Guan Yu awarded him to become his stepson.

Liu Bei finally reunited with his loyal warriors in that mountain top. On one side, there’s the ambitious Prime Minister, Cao Cao. On the other side is Yuan Shao in He Bei. Guan Yu Past Five Gates

First Gate – Dong Ling Gate

The first gate defense commander was Kong Xiu. Because of He Bei was Prime Minister’s enemy (Yuan Shao), he refused to let Guan Yu pass through unless Prime Minister really give him permission by giving Guan Yu the pass. However, Guan Yu was very urgent and did not get the pass from Cao Cao, and he was unable to show him anything. This ended up with a fight between Guan Yu and Kong Xiu. Guan Yu finally was forced to kill Kong Xiu in in order to pass through the first gate.

Second Gate – Luo Yang Gate

Luo Yang Defense Captain was Han Fu. Han Fu was very angry because Guan Yu killed Kong Xiu, further more Guan Yu did not get the pass from Cao Cao. This ended up with another fight between Han Fu and Guan Yu. Again, Han Fu was killed by Guan Yu in this battled.

Third Gate – Yi Shui Gate

Bian Xi was the Defense Commander of Yi Shui. Although his war ability was higher than the previous two gate’s captain, he ended up killed by Guan Yu because of refusing Guan Yu to pass through the gate.

Fourth Gate – Ying Yang Gate

Ying Yang Gate’s Governor was Wang Zhi. This time Wang Zhi treated Guan Yu and Liu Bei’s wife very polite and courteous. He invited them to rest in the city. Without realizing this was actually a trick, Guan Yu and Liu Bei’s wife accepted the offer. That night, Wang Zhi plan to burn Guan Yu’s room, Wang Zhi’s men already block all the surrounding area and ready to put up the fire.

However, Guan Yu came out from the back of Wang Zhi and killed him. Again, Guan Yu successfully past through the fourth gate and pursuing their journey to He Bei.

Fifth Gate – Yellow River

The Yellow River was guarded by General Xiahou Dun, the strongest General among previous one. Xiahou Dun sent troops to block Guan Yu when Guan Yu tried to cross the river. Before they started to go into a battle, Zhang Liao sent an ordered from Prime Minister.

When Cao Cao heard Guan Yu killed Kong Xiu at dong Ling gate, he ordered all gates to permit Guan Yu to pass. Zhang Liao was there to mediate between them and enabled Guan Yu to arrive safely in He Bei. Nobody shall be allowed to hinder Guan Yu’s journey.

Guan Yu indeed was a great hero, the relationship between Guan Yu and Cao Cao ends here. In order to be reunited with Liu Bei in He Bei, Guan Yu single-handedly guarded Liu Bei’s wife through five gates and thousand miles of passes and killed Cao Cao’s men.

Guan Yu Left Cao Cao

Immediately, Liu Bei sent Chen Zhen (Liu Bei’s good friend) to deliver a letter to Guan Yu. Chen Zhen (also Yuan Shao’s General) managed to deliver the letter to Guan Yuan on that night. He told Guan Yu that Liu Bei wanted him to hurry to He Bei and reunite with him.

Guan Yu was so happy to hear about the news that his brother was still alive. He decided to say farewell to Cao Cao and depart as soon as possible. He’ll fight whatever he can if Cao Cao refuses to let him leave.

The next day morning, Guan Yu went to see the Prime Minister. Guan Yu stay in front of Cao Cao’s gate and ask for permission to see him.

However, Cao Cao did not entertain him at all. Thus, Guan Yu when to Zhang Liao’s house to ask for help. Guan Yu received the same response as when he reached Zhang Liao’s house. There was an Avoiding Guest Plank hanged upon a locked door. This meant Zhang Liao refused to see visitors.

Guan Yu returned to Cao Cao’s residence every day, but Cao Cao always refused to see him. Cao Cao’s avoidance tactic seems to be very effective at first.

One day, Guan Yu ordered his assistant to sweep his entire mansion clean. He also ordered to take out all things that the Prime Minister gave him and return to him. He told Liu Bei’s wife that they will leave that afternoon.

Meanwhile, Guan Yu was worrying whether he can reach He Bei smoothly because He Bei is 1,000 miles from the capital. Before he departed, he asked his assistant to deliver a farewell letter to Cao Cao since Cao Cao keep on refusing to see him. After Cao Cao received the farewell letter, he immediate rushed to Guan Yu’s direction to send him off. Cao Cao aware that avoiding seeing Guan Yu was his fault and he shouldn’t break his promised. He sent some gold to Guan Yu as to farewell with him. That’s the end of the relationship between Cao Cao and Guan Yu.

In order to go He Bei, Guan Yu needs to past 5 Gates. At each gate Guan Yu will go through, there’s someone waiting for him.

Cao Cao and Guan Yu

Now come back to Xu Chang, the capital, in order to earn Guan Yu’s loyalty, Cao Cao gave many expensive gifts to Guan Yu as to congratulate him promoted became a General of Cao Cao.

However, Guan Yu gave the gifts to Liu Bei’s wife. Cao Cao did not angry when he knew that. Instead, he gave the red horse to Guan Yu. This red horse can run 1,000 miles per day. Since Cao Cao defeated Lu Bu, the horse turned wild and nobody can tame it, but Guan Yu did it. After Cao Cao granted the horse to Guan Yu, he was very grateful and said, with this powerful horse, he can find his brother Liu Bei, a lot faster. Cao Cao was very frustrated, even he has been so generous to Guan Yu, yet he didn’t seem touched anyway.

To Guan Yu, Cao Cao can only give him gifts. On the other hand, Liu Bei’s heart and his heart are connected as one. He will not lose his focus just because of a horse or the luxury gifts. He will never forget their brotherhood oath. However, he told Zhang Liao, at the same time Cao Cao’s kindness to him, he will also never forget. To repay his kindness, he is willing to go to war on the Prime Minister’s side. In order to retain Guan Yu, Cao Cao refused to bring him to war. Because he afraid that after repaying his kindness, Guan Yu will leave him.

After the fall of Xu Zhou, Liu Bei ran to Yuan Shao in Ji Zhou to ask for help. He approached Yuan Shao in He Bei to ally against the ever expanding Cao Cao. One day, Yuan Shao granted 200,000 men to Yan Liang to attack Cao Cao in He Bei. After Yan Liang served as vanguard to attack Cao Cao, he marched toward the area called the wilderness of Bai Ma. Liu Bei also went there along which he departed soon after.

The news of Yuan Shao army’s arrival soon reached Cao Cao. Cao Cao immediately split his army into two. He put Xiahou dun in charge of Xu Chang to defense, while he himself led the army of 150,000 to Bai Ma. After Guan Yu got this news, he voluntary asked Cao Cao to send him for this battle in order to repay his kindness. However, his offer was refused by Cao Cao.

After the two armies struggled for a while, the enemy’s vanguard finally broke through. General Yan Liang led his army wreaked havoc in all directions, fiercely massacred Cao Cao’s troops as they go. Song Xian and Wei Xu’s troops were easily routed by Yan Liang. Since this condition is getting worse, Cao Cao has no choice but he has to ask Guan Yu to go for the war.

After receiving the order, Guan Yu immediately rode his Red Horse alone to the battlefield. Without knowing that Liu Bei is actually resides with Yuan Shao, Guan Yu successfully killed Yan Liang in the battlefield.

That night Yuan Shao was very angry. Liu Bei was almost beheaded by Yuan Shao because Yan Liang was killed by Guan Yu. A warrior with a long beard wielding a halberd that’s what they thought he was Guan Yu. Liu Bei defended himself by saying that many warriors has long beard and it’s probably Cao Cao’s man to trick Yuan Shao killing him. Since no one personally witness Guan Yu killed Yan Liang, Yuan Shao then asked Wen Chou to be the vanguard and Liu Bei join Wen Chou for the next battle to find out the actual warrior who killed Yan Liang.

Wen Chou, the main vanguard, chose to course through the Yellow river (Huang He to the destination. Liu Bei, as the second in command, is closely following him. Although Wen Chou is as strong as Yan Liang, he is not that cleaver. Cao Cao ordered to dispatch a few troops to transport some rations and keep following them but not too close. This is to lure Wen Chou to rob the cargo away. Once the cargo attacked by Wen Chou, Cao Cao asked his general to divide the army into two and prepare a pincer attack between the north and south.

Wen Chou’s troops were completely defeated. However, he managed to run away with one of his men. On his way back to Yuan Shao’s camp, both of the met Guan Yu. And this time, his man witness Guan Yu killed Wen Chou personally. Without reluctance, this man brought Liu Bei to place where Guan Yu killed Wen Chou, because Liu Bei wants to see Guan Yu’s face personally. Thus, they managed to see him but did not call him because there were Cao Cao’s troops there.

This time Liu Bei has no excused but he managed to explain that since he left Xu Zhou, he did not know whether Guan Yu is dead or alive. Guan Yu must not be aware that he was resides with Yuan Shao. He will persuade Guan Yu to come over Yuan Shao’s side. He will use Guan Yu as to replace Yan Liang and Wen Chou.

The Third Star "Kong Ming"

Jing Zhou, in this time of chaos, is relatively calm compared to other states. Thanks to the leadership of its governor, Liu Biao, it becomes a very prosperous state. Therefore, many scholars flock in this region. One of them was the infamous Master Sima Hui, whose nickname was Shui Jing (Still Water). Sima Hui was a very famous teacher in the entire Han Kingdom. He teaches in his house, where his students gather to listen to his lessons.

This is a chaotic time indeed. After Liu Bei’s defeated, nobody knows whereabouts him. Therefore, Cao Cao may turn his attention to either Yuan Shao or Liu Biao in Jing Zhou. One day, in Master Shui Jing’s house, he asked his student, who will eventually hold the entire power? All his students voted Cao Cao as their best candidate except Kong Ming (Zhuge Liang) has different opinion with them.

As in his opinion, although the Emperor’s star doesn’t shine brightly, there were three other bright stars before Cao Cao’s star. The struggle of this empire has just begun. Everyone was curious about who were the three stars that Kong Ming mentioned just now. Then, he continued, the first star belongs to Yuan Shao in Ji Zhou, the second one belongs to Sun Quan in Wu. Nevertheless, Yuan Shao’s star has no prospect. Kong Ming did not mention who was the third one but only explained that he hasn’t showed up yet. “As I gaze upon the sky, as the sun grows dim. The cosmos bears three stars, brightly shine onto the earth”. That was Kong Ming’s favorite poem. It was the poem from the ancient Qi Kingdom.

18 years ago, in the autumn of 180 A.D. The entire China was engulfed in a solar eclipse. That was in Xu Zhou state. Broad daylight was suddenly turned into darkness. This is why paranormal at the time foretold the age of caos. Kong Ming was born just when the sun is out of the eclipse. To his father (Zhuge Gui), it was a very good sign. Since the sunlight starts shining again, he gave him the name “Liang” (means “light/ bright”). And also call him Kong Ming (Piercing Light) as for this style name.

When Kong Ming was 3 years old at 184 A.D., China fell into a peasant started rebellion called the Yellow Turbans. A religious leader, Zhang Jiao, managed to gather hundreds and thousands of followers. In his attempt to overthrow the Han dynasty, China fell into a great chaos. As when the ravaging army of the Yellow Turbans entered Xu Zhou, countless of innocents fell became victim.

Kong Ming was deeply saddened due to his nanny killed by the Yellow Turbans. He was especially sad because he personally witnessed how she died. Since that happened, Kong Ming was taught not to be dependent upon others in his life.

Soon after, Yellow Turban rebellion was suppressed. However, Han dynasty didn’t go out of the caos. The imperial court was then promoted the dictator Prime Minister Dong Zhuo, who soon made Luo Yang in constant fear. Growing tired of Dong Zhuo dictatorship, a coalition army was formed to attack him in Luo Yang.

Gongsun Zan was the one who first led the troops to attack Dong Zhuo. The main area they attacked was Si Shui gate and Hu Lao gate. However, he almost killed by Dong Zhuo’s stepson Lu Bu. Zhang Fei managed to safe Gongsun Zan in the battlefield.

After Lu Bu defeated by the three brothers, the prowess of the three brothers Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were witnessed by all. Dong Zhuo was finally forced to leave Luo Yang.

At this time, Kong Ming was brought to Luo Yang by his elder brother, Zhuge Jin. The fall of Luo Yang frontiers, Si Shui gate and Hu Lao gate greatly demoralized Dong Zhuo’s army. He then decided to move the capital from Luo Yang to Chang Ann because of the strength of the coalition army.

The relocating to Chang An requires a tremendous amount of funds, thus, Dong Zuo decided to raise taxes and confiscate all money and valuable goods from the people for this purpose. In just few days time, the capital suddenly turned into hell. However, Kong Ming Predicted that Dong Zhuo won’t live very long, because he has done so many crimes. He knew that someone will rise up and kill that dictator.

Two years after Dong Zhuo moved the capital to Chang An, Dong Zhuo’s dictatorship was getting weak and many attempt to murder him secretly including Cao Cao.

Diao Chan was one of them sent by his father in order to break the ties between Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu.

As Dong Zhuo was mesmerized with Diao Chan’s beauty, he never realized that it was a trap because Lu Bu at the same time also falls in love with Diao Chan.

Armed with a sweet little smile, the lady’s struggle is about to begin. One day, Lu Bu finally decided to kill Dong Zhuo by giving an excused that he received an ordered by Emperor to kill him. And that was what the young Kong Ming said and it became a reality.

After the notorious tyrant, Dong Zhuo died, another stage of chaos began. The remnants of the Yellow Turban started to act up again. The current emperor, Emperor Xian, gave an order to suppress the rebellion. Kong Ming father, Zhuge Gui, was one of those ordered to suppress the rebellion. Zhuge Gui was injured during his fight in the battlefield. Soon after, Zhuge Gui passed away. With his father’s last words, Kong Ming began his journey in this chaotic world. That was study military book hard to end this chaos.

The next year after his father murdered, the enraged of Cao Cao from Yan Zhou tried to invade Xu Zhou. The battle of supremacy among the heroes started with this small incident in Xu Zhou. Cao Cao’s million man army put Xu Zhou under siege. Zhuge Liang, and his uncle Zhuge Xuan in his flight to avoid war was also there.

Six years later, in 199 A.D., Kong Ming moved to Xiang Yang in Jing Zhou. He works in the fields when the weather is good. If it’s rainy, he stays at home studying books. Kong Ming wants to find the hero that shares his ideal in order to end the chaotic world. Kong Ming indeed is the third star that he did not mentioned earlier while in the classroom’s discussion.

Isolation between Liu Bei and His Brothers

Zhang Fei has no choice but to work out a strategy to trick Liu Dai. He told everyone to have a night raid over their enemy. However, Zhang Fei can’t wait until he win over Liu Dai. He started drank wine with the peasants. He drank until he drunk and lashed his soldier. That night, his soldier that beaten by Zhang Fei ran to Liu Dai’s camp and surrender with the reason that he wanted to revenge on Zhang Fei. Liu Dai finally decided, to attack Zhang Fei.

Before Liu Dai managed to reach Zhang Fei’s camp, Zhang Fei’s armies suddenly came out and surrounded them. And that’s how Liu Dai was being captured. The soldier being beaten was actually under Zhang Fei’s plan to trick Liu Dai. From Liu Dai’s mouth, Prime Minister was indeed marching toward Xu Zhou to attack Liu Bei.

These two Generals however were treated well by Liu Bei which hoping that Cao Cao will have a different attitude toward Liu Bei. Once they returned to Xu Chang to inform non-hostile intent of Liu Bei, Cao Cao was very furious and decided to attack Liu Bei.

Meanwhile, in the capital Xu Chang, Emperor Xian’s secret edict to murder Cao Cao was exposed. All those involved and the ones who signed the edict with their blood were captured and executed except Liu Bei. This rose up Cao Cao’s desire to kill Liu Bei.

Cao Cao personally led 200,000 men to Xu Zhou in 5 detachments, marching from Shandong. When this news alerted Liu Bei, he quickly asked Yuan Shao in Ji Zhou for reinforcements. However, Yuan Shao was regretting to help Liu Bei. This was due to Yuan Shao’s grandson was about to die. No one was allowed to hunt. That’s why he ordered not to send troops.

Liu Bei has no choice but decided to defend themselves. He entrust his wife to Guan yu in Xia Pi, while he himself and Zhang Fei guards Xiao Pei City. Zhang Fei then suggested raiding them and robbing their horses. They plan to hit Cao Cao’s troops in one hit and coordinate attack with Guan Yu from Xia Pi to finish them off.

On that night, a southeastern wind blew and breaks Cao Cao’s flag. This wind alerted Cao Cao, it probably indicated a night raid by Liu Bei. Thus, Cao Cao ordered to prepare for the raid. Cao Cao’s troops pretend to sleep exhausted that night. When Liu Bei and Zhang Fei attack Cao Cao in the camp, they were trapped. Because no one was in the camp.

Suddenly, they heard Cao Cao’s troops came from surrounding area. Liu Bei Lost Xu Zhou that night but he managed to escape. Now, Xu Zhou is completely under Cao Cao’s control. Guan Yu in Xia Pi also threatened. Xia Pi’s fall is only a matter of time. Meanwhile, Liu Bei is on his way to Ji Zhou to request Yuan Shao’s help personally.

Chen Gui and Chen Deng was executed by Cao Cao after Xu Zhou fall into Cao Cao’s control. After this raid, nobody knows where about Liu Bei. About Xia Pi, Cao Cao admired Guan Yu every much for his bravery, prowess and honesty, so he wants to capture guan yu and recruit him as his general. Thus Cao Cao appointed General Zhang Liao to talk to Guan Yu since Zhang Liao has good relationship with Guan Yu. At the same time lure Guan Yu out of Xia Pi. Once he’s isolated, they can easily capture Xia Pi. If Guan Yu knew that Liu Be’s whereabouts is unclear he would certainly fall to this trap.

By knowing that Liu Bei and Zhang Fei were fled and missing Guan Yu was very worried and went out to search for his brothers. However, he met Xiahou Dun (Cao Cao’s General) both of them fight on the spot and few minutes later, Xu Zhu also Cao Cao’s General came from behind and attacked Guan Yu. Guan Yu thus knew that he is tricked and because no general was in the Xia Pi city, Guan Yu then ran to the forest and that’s the place where Zhang Liao has chance to talk to him.

Zhang Liao tried to persuade Guan Yu surrender by telling him that Prime Minister ordered them to treat Liu Be’s wife well. However, Guan Yu was very stubborn and said a warrior should die in the battlefield and not to simply surrender to his enemy. Zhang Liao then continued by saying that Guan Yu didn’t realize he has committed to three offenses. First, he didn’t know whether Liu Bei was alive or dead if he died, he violated his brotherhood oath. Second, since he were entrusted with his lords wife how dare he avoid that duty and third, right now the emperor needed his help to restore this dynasty and if he died he will fail his first and foremost duty.

Thus Guan Yu realized that he serves no purpose at all if he died like in the battlefield like that. He then rose up three conditions. He will only follow Cao Cao if Cao Cao agree the three conditions. First, he do not surrender to Cao Cao, he surrender to the han dynasty. Second, he must be allowed to protect his lord’s wife personally and third, if he knows Liu Bei’s whereabouts, no matter what happens he has to leave Cao Cao. Without these three conditions he would rather die in shame for the three offenses that Zhang Liao mentioned earlier.

When Zhang Liao feedback the three conditions to Cao Cao, Cao Cao was not really agreed with the third condition as he might leave him if he knows Liu Bei is still alive. But he has no choice because he admired Guan Yu so much. He will only try to win Guan Yu’s heart over Liu Bei before Guan Yu managed to find Liu Be.

On that night, Guan Yu asked Cao Cao’s troops retreat 30 miles away from the Xia Pi city and nobody is allowed to come close. He then back to Xia Pi city to ensure Liu Be’s wife is safe. Later, he guarded Liu Be’s wife to Xiao Pei to meet Cao Cao. Again, Guan Yu confirms with Cao Cao the three conditions in front of Cao Cao when he met him. After confirmation, Guan Yu then brought Liu Bei’s wife to the Capital and follow the Prime Minister. Cao Cao lifelong wish has come true the great warrior Guan Yu is now under his service.

Liu Bei fight with Cao Cao

One night, Chen Deng from Xu Zhou came to Xiao Pei City. Liu Bei was not around that night as he was patrolling toward the Xia Pi City area and will be back to Xiao Pei City the next day. Chen Deng however forward the message to Guan Yu and Zhang Fei that Prime Minister ordered General Che Zhou to attack Xiao Pei City.

Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were very angry. Thus, they decided to attack Che Zhou without Liu Bei’s consent. Chen Deng came out with a trick that use Cao Cao’s banners and pose as Cao Cao’s men to ask General Che Zhou to open the gates. The raid in that night was successful and General Che Zhou was killed by Guan Yu.

When Liu Bei back from patrolling, he was very disappointed to see such a decision because they attacked the city without his permission. He was afraid that by attacking Che Zhou, they will make Cao Cao their enemy. They are in a weak position to fight with Cao Cao and do not have the strength to repel Cao Cao if he come back to revenge.

Chen Deng then, came out with a plan to join Yuan Shao. Because of Liu Bei’s friendship with Zheng Xuan, Yuan Shao is coming to help Liu Bei with 100,000 men to face Cao Cao. Meanwhile, Cao Cao was aware of the situation. He Immediately led his 200,000 men to Hua Bei. At the same time, the Prime Minister ordered Liu Dai and Wang Zhong attack Liu Bei.

Cao Cao asked Liu Dai and Wang Zhong bear his Prime Minister’s flags. When Liu Bei knows it’s Cao Cao’s flags and banner, he won’t attack them because Liu Bei knows Cao Cao’s strength. At the same time, Cao Cao will deal with Yuan Shao and he thought he can finish Liu Bei if everything done smoothly. However, Yuan Shao’s army managed to confuse Cao Cao’s plan. Thus, Cao Cao was forced to return to Xu Chang.

Liu Dai and Wang Zhong indeed don’t dare to fight with Liu Bei, because Liu Bei’s General is stronger than them. After 3 months of inspections, Liu Bei felt like being cheated because Liu Dai and Wang Zhong only put up Cao Cao’s flags without further actions. Finally, Liu Bei decided to order Guan Yu attack their enemy immediately. During this raid, Wang Zhong was captured by Guan Yu.

After Wang Zhong being captured, Liu Bei learnt from him that was actually Cao Cao’s trick and in fact, Cao Cao’s troops were not nearby. By knowing this news, Liu Bei decided again to capture Liu Dai. Without these two General, the enemy can’t fight at all. This time Zhang Fei insisted to take this task to capture Liu Dai. Liu Bei afraid that Zhang Fei might mess up everything as he can easily get provoked. After a few times Zhang Fei persuade Liu Bei and promised he won’t kill Liu Dai, Liu Bei finally agreed Zhang Fei to take this task.

When Zhang Fei and his team march towards Liu Dai, Liu Dai is like a coward, he dare not challenge Zhang Fei instead he only defense his enemy. Thus, Zhang Fei decided to scold Liu Dai and ask his team member to shout “Liu Dai coward” by hoping that Liu Dai will come out to fight. However, there was not response after a while of shouting.

Liu Bei Out From Cage

After Lu Bu killed by Cao Cao (Prime Minister), Cao Cao took Liu Bei and his brothers to return to the capital. However, Cao Cao did not expect this would change the fate of the Han emperor. Cao Cao never knew that Liu Bei is son of Liu Hong which is the descendant of Prince Jing of Zhongsahn, Liu Sheng. He is same clan with the Emperor. Which means he is Emperor’s Uncle. Liu Bei was awarded with the “General of the Left” and the “Duke of Yi Cheng” by the Emperor.

The hunting season in Xu Tian began with full vigor. Cao Cao always sticks with the Emperor to find out which brave and loyal generals side with the Emperior. On that day, the arrogant Cao Cao embarrassed the Emperor in front of his officers. Therefore, this made the Emperor very angry and thus, he gave a secret edict to kill Cao Cao to his loyal aide, Dong Cheng.

Shortly, all the loyal warriors signed the Emperor decree with their blood, swearing loyalty to the Emperor. One day, Dong Cheng visited Liu Bei’s house. He asked Liu Bei to assist Emperor to kill Cao Cao. Without thinking twice, Liu Bei immediately agreed and signed the Emperor decree.

Upon hearing the news that Yuan Shao killed Gongsun Zan in a battle, Liu Bei was saddened as he lost his best friend. Meanwhile, Liu Bei has decided to leave Cao Cao. With the pretext to prevent the alliance between Yuan Shu and Yuan Shao, Liu Bei requested Cao Cao to attack Yuan Shu.Once Cao Cao agrees Liu Bei goes to the Emperor for further approval. The trick of leaving Xu Zhou with the pretense to attack Yuan Shu has managed to trick Cao Cao.

With 50,000 men with him, Liu Bei is like a bird set free from its cage at Xu Zhou. Cao Cao by knowing that it was a trick, he quickly sent his messenger to ask Liu Bei come back to the Capital. However, Liu Bei refused his messenger. This once again forced to start another war.

After leaving Xu Zhou, Liu Bei managed to defeat Yuan Shu in Nan Yang and returned to the Xiao Pei city. This was because they want to avoid Cao Cao’s attack in Xu Zhou.

End of General Lu Bu

Imperial commander General Lu Zhi is in command of 50,000 soldiers. They are currently in a fierce battle with the Yellow Turbans under Zhang Jiao. Liu Bei was one of his students when he was 15 years old. He learnt literature and military strategies under General Lu Zhi and he likes Liu Bei so much for this honesty. General Lu Zhi ordered Liu Bei’s volunteer army to march to Ying Chuan as reinforcement.

However, the battle for humanity against the corrupt government has taken a toll of General Lu Zhi’s life. General Lu Zhi refused the bribes from an Imperial envoy. And thus, Liu Bei’s future is also seems to be very tough.

Liu Bei was then plan to ally with Cao Cao against Lu Bu. However, the plan was exposed. This has lead Lu Bu attacked Liu Bei in Xiao Pei. But instead he fell into the trap of Chen Gui and Chen Deng that are using them to attack each other. Thereafter, Cao Cao’s troops were then pursuing to Lu Bu and he has no choice but hiding in Xia Pi.

Lu Bu was besieged by Cao Cao in Xia Pi city. Xia Pi is fenced by Yishui and Sishui river, which form a natural barrier, making it easy to defend. The siege was between the end of fall season and the beginning of winter. Due to the fear of Lu Bu and Yuan shu. Cao Cao set up watch towers and blockaded the entire region. Liu Bei and his brothers were ordered to supervise the blockade against Nan Yang.A few days later, Zhang Fei realized that there is small team of Lu Bu’s envoy being sent to ask Yuan Shu for reinforcements. Zhang Fei waits at the pass to block their return.

One month later, the winter’s wind blew madly, chilling both armies. Both Cao Cao and Lu Bu were unable to move and thus they had to stop fighting for a while. Lu Bu spent his days in drinking wine because he was unable to ask for Yuan Shu’s help. Cao Cao then change his strategy by using the natural river to to attack Xia Pi. Xia Pi was completely flooded.

The defending army was panic and was forced to stay at higher platforms. Because of this incident Lu Bu instruct no body shall drink wine as he will behead anyone who dare to drink wine. Hou Cheng (Lu Bu’s General) was unaware of this instruction. He invited Lu Bu for a dinning party with wine celebration. This has caused Lu Bu almost behead Hou Cheng.

On that night, all generals decided to surrender to Cao Cao because of the intolerance of Lu Bu. At the same day of Hou Cheng’s surrender, Cao Cao attacked Xia Pi city. After the battle was over, Lu Bu was exhausted and went to sleep. Wei Xu and Song Xian take this opportunity quietly tight up Lu Bu and open the gate to let Cao Cao’s troops go in to the city. And that’s the end of Lu Bu. The spectacular end of the Lu Bu, truly marks the beginning of the chaotic era.

Recently I bought a set of CDs TV series 84 episodes, Romance Of The Three Kingdoms. It's a story about the war of three Kingdoms, Wei, Shu and Wu. It is a well recognized part of Chinese history which happened during an era of disunity called the Six Dynasties. The famous story has been made into a movie named The Red Cliff and was release globally in last year. The following is the story of 1st episode.

It was 184AD, Spring of Jian Ning year in China. People were in great fear due to a strange bright light plunged into Huang He river. These indicated a bad sign that something is going to happened. China sink into an unprecedented disaster. Heavy taxes imposed by the government causes misery to the people. This scenario became worse by unceasing misfortunes and plagues. And thus the people are deprived of their livelihood.

In addition, people throughout the land began to revolt one after another. The largest peasant rebel forces was lead by a Taoist named Zhang Jiao also known as the Yellow Turbans. Several hundred thousands peasants all across the country joined effort to overthrow the corrupt government.

At this point, there were 3 heroes sworn as brothers with the desires of a peaceful and safe country. Liu Bei (Liu Xuande), Guan Yu (Yunchang), Zhang Fei (Yide) started raise army and safe the people from the Yellow Turban rebels. Having sworn as brothers, the three begins their journey across the country to gather heroes and warriors. In this chaotic world, the story of the Three Kingdoms began.

If you read newspaper everyday, you should see many retrenchment report, jobless or redundancy. You can see everywhere are doing stock clearance and sales. All retail shops in shopping mall still looks quiet although many offer and promotion strategies being done. That is probably people couldn't afford to spend due to the cut of salary, jobless or maybe save for the future unexpected needs.

My 1st post after Chines New Year

This year really busy. So many plans need to carry out. However, everything was not so smooth since 1st Jan 2009 because car was sending in to workshop for overhaul on that day. And follow by the second week car was sending in again because of the break down of computer box. The worst part is, the mechanic is not able to find a replacement for the computer box.

Finally, I have only two options. Either sell off the car or send it to the Kia workshop (Kia workshop is gonna give me a thousand figure's bill). Well, I can't make decision until they give me a quote.

Meanwhile, I can only take train to work. I have to stop my cake business and some leisure activities. Although it was not a good start at the beginning of year 2009, I believe it's good to let the bad luck goes before the good luck comes.

Over population is one of the major causes that lead to irregular weather, global warming and changes in the climate issues. A large number of forests are being destroyed for the purpose of building new housing projects and business area. Only a small part of the countries are actually being protected as forest protection area.

This dangerous situation is becoming even worst when the waste and garbage is increasing by the growing of world population. Many countries government are now worrying where and how to store and dispose the garbage as the number of waste is increasing every year. This issue needs extra attention as it will bring unhealthy environment to the surround areas where people live. And it will affect from one place to the other.

I am very sure that every one of us aware about this and perhaps some may say that it indicates the end of the world. To me, whether it is end of the world or not, if all of us could do something for our environment, if we can’t save our world, at least we could extend the life of this earth.

This is one of the coffee shops that decorate their shops by using recycle materials. They use empty liquor bottle and the caps to makes it so attractive and colorful at the shop's counter corner.

Some shops paste the old CD on the ceiling and it looks shinning from the reflection of the light when the bulbs turn on.

Nowadays you can see some shopping complex set up a recycle counter at the corner of their parking place. It's not only to collect the recycle items such as boxes, old newspaper, plastics, batteries and other recycle stuff, they also earn quite a lucrative income when they resell it to the finishing recycle factory.

There are so many ways that we can do in order to save our earth at the same time we do not need to spend money to buy things if you want to decorate your house or your shop's counter. Just make use of the recycle stuff with a little bit of your creative idea, you can design something that you like. If you are a business minded person, perhaps it's an opportunity for you to start your own business.

The Marketer

You might think that this photo was taken during a motor car show. In fact, this shinny car was shown in a shopping complex nearby my office. There were few shoppers hanging around to take photo with this car. This maybe an antique car show or exhibition in one of the largest shopping complex in Malaysia. I thought it was a luxury car show when I saw this car from far.

No, I was wrong! It was a perfume company's promotion counter. They used this car as a tool to attract their customer. Most of the perfume marketers in Midvelley hire young and beautiful ladies to promote their product. But the crowd doesn't seem as good as this antique car. That is because human are curious, they like to see new things that they hardly see in their daily life.

This was one of the souvenir shops in Midvalley that I found with creative front windows design. The windows was decorated with few sweet teddy bear, shinning and Christmas lighting.

Expire Date

Many of us do not alert of expire date when they do their shopping especially when they purchase food items. Some of them may only realize it until they tasted the food and found that it is not as pleasant as the one that they tried before. However, I'm very particular about this because I have already experienced it many times. Thus, I am very careful and always check the expire date of every single item and this already become my shopping habit before I purchase something.

Recently, my colleague offered me a dozen of Malta Quench for free, which is my favorite drink. This product actually has been distributed to all my colleagues before I came in to the office. It was the remaining product that did not finish during the product test survey and they don't want to waste it, so they decided to give it as a free drink to everybody. I found few empty can in the dustbin which some of them already drank a few cans.

Although this Malta Quench was given free, I will still check the expire date as what I usually do and when some one pass on things like foods to me.
You know what?
I found the bottom of the can printed BEST BEFORE 2008-10. The date for best consume is already "Expired". I can't image if I have already drank it I could have vomited it out. However, everyone seems like still very healthy the next day morning when they back to the office. Perhaps, they use to print few months early before the actual expire date. But we still need to take precaution on it.

Before I end this message, I would like to add on something. Many shoppers do not aware the expire date printed on the bottle of mineral water. They thought that there is no expire date on mineral water.
Just to remind all of you, every mineral water has its' expire date. I'm very particular about the expire date of mineral water because I use to buy mineral water from petrol station.

The reason why I buy mineral water is because I don't cook or boil water at home, as I feel not safe to drink the dirty water supply in my house.

The Contribution

Contribution is merely an effort done to produce or given as an offer in order to accomplish a certain goal without hoping for any return. Why I chose this topic today is because I felt that it’s vital for all of us to know the importance of contribution. In fact, it’s too simple to explain the word “contribution”, but it’s not easy to implement it.

We must appreciate that there are actually many people in this world are contributing their hard work to this world without any recognition. You don’t realize them; you don’t understand their job and don’t appreciate their effort until you discover what they do. I always use this example; you can simply finish up a slice of cake or a bowl of rice in 10-20 minutes times, but you don't realize that there were a lots of hidden hard work behind. It probably took few hours or days to prepare or to process the food that you have just swallowed. It involved so many people’s hard work before you can taste the food. And you don’t see their effort until you involve yourself in their position.

Therefore, since our society is contributing most of our needs for our daily activities, it’s imperative that we must reciprocate something back to our society. If every one of us have this in mind and build this as a habit, we will certainly live in a peaceful world. These habits can begin from the small donation to the charity or non-profit organization. Or you may also involve yourself in the social committees and work as a volunteer whenever they need your help.

Bill Gates, the Ex-Microsoft chairman and also the richest man in the world has set himself as an example. He has more money than anyone, but he is also giving away more money than anyone in this world. He left his own company and decided to involve himself in social community work. That is because he wants to help those unfortunate people especially those countries suffering from all kind of diseases to have a better life. He has contributed almost 90% of his property to the poverty countries that suffering from all kind of illnesses and to solve the world’s health problem.

Of course most of us can’t donate that much of money like Bill Gates. However, I’m sure the small contribution pools from millions of people in the world would definitely more than what Bill Gates has done. I’m not saying we must do better than Gates, but at least we have done something. And we must set him as an example.

Trip to Bali

Time goes very fast, it never rest. My last trip to oversea country was 9 years ago. That was a fruitful trip to me because I strike a RM2000 lottery ticket that year in Singapore. In fact, I don’t really have time to go for a trip, not even traveling in my own country.

My previous plan to Vietnam with my parents and sister was cancelled due to my heavy job schedule. That was this year Chinese New Year. I can’t rest because my nature of work gives me zero basic salary. If I stop my bank’s deposit will stop. I think it’s time for me to search for more passive income.

Miss My Holiday

As usual, today is 1st day work after Hari Raya holiday. I started to work from 9am to 11pm at night. Almost 14 hours work, such an unbelievable long working hours. I got 5 focus group, 2 mystery checking, 1 street intercept and my part-time business job. Can you imagine, I can't rest for the next two weeks for sure.

I need at least 50 respondents to participate in the 5 focus group discussion. It's not easy because the closing date for recruitment is only 1 week time. This cat actually came to our house without any permission. But she is so beautiful and cute, I gave her a name "Mao Mi" and now she is staying here for more than 1 year.

About My Job

I gone through a stage of self-doubt when I first started my career as a market research interviewer. I asked myself what is this business doing? and what sort of career advancement I can fulfill with the company. Even people surrounding me are very curious why I quit my career in bank and what do I see in this career path, and most questions raised were can I in fact survive without basic salary?

As time goes by, I realize that research company in fact assist their client, ie. renowned global organizations in their product development and marketing strategy. The consumers are given opportunities to express their view on the products, thus helping the organization to better position their existing product, making them more attractive, better quality and more competitive in the eyes of consumers. I assured myself this is a right career path that I have chosen, and I have proven that I have gotten good rewards for the hard work that I devoted. I truly see the rewards as the sky is the limit¡¨ as you can achieve the payment that you wish to command by going an extra miles.

Some people perceive it as a tough job, people who cannot take the challenge in this industry quit after months or even days of work. Yet, there are many people who have worked for 5-10 years, who still enjoy the challenge of the job.

However, in many department staff (not involve in field work, field work duties include searching participants or respondents in order to participate in a research study) they do not clear about the core duties of an interviewer. What in their mind is our strength on timely job delivery. We were able to achieve major project milestone in a short period of time, as contrast to some who has experienced but couldn't do well like what we did. Some even give us compliment, for instance, we are recognized as "magician" staff, where they find some difficulty in delivering similar jobs.

In fact, I think the word "magician¨ is just an excessive compliment laid to us, as we are just dedicated interviewers who carry our daily duty by striving our best effort to attain the project's objective. Just like an engineer they can build so many tall buildings and a doctor can save a people¡'s life from illnesses. They are not "magician" they have done many practical experiments and studies before that. Just like them, we all know the methods of doing survey and how to get the respondent. And all methods are from our own practical studies when we were doing our field work outdoor.
